It is my privilege to serve as superintendent for the Northwest Public Schools district. When I joined the district in July of 2012 I was immediately impressed by the welcoming atmosphere that I encountered. Creating a sense of family is one of the traits that our schools pride themselves on. This sense of belonging makes the Northwest district a very comfortable place to work and also makes me feel very good about sending my children to school here.
Prior to becoming superintendent here at Northwest I spent fourteen years at Chase County Schools in Imperial, Nebraska. Chase county is located in the southwest corner of the state. There I served as superintendent for eight years after being the high school principal for six. The only other stop on my professional career was twelve year spent in Bassett, Nebraska. I started my career there as a math and computer science teacher at Rock County High School. After five years in the classroom I became their high school principal.
My roots, as well as my previous experience, are certainly rural. Grand Island is by far the largest community I have ever lived in. My family and I have enjoyed many of the options we have found available here. At the same time, we appreciate the smaller school feel that we get in the Northwest district. The dedicated, hard working people here at the school put students first and take a genuine interest in seeing every student succeed. Northwest is a great place to work and a great place for our students to learn and grow.
